This nationally-accredited course is aimed at those starting a new business, improving an existing one, or working for someone running a small business.
Whilst the bulk of the course comprises face to face training, it is an expectation at this level of training for students to conduct research and study at home for assignments and essays.
Occupational Outcomes
On successful completion, this certificate will improve graduates' chances of enhancing their business practices and techniques using the skills gained in a practical, hands-on learning environment.
The units (subjects) covered by the course have been developed in consultation with industry and relate directly to the skills and knowledge required to maximise small business expertise.
Pathways may include:
• Skills enhancement for Owner/Manager of small to medium enterprises.
• Establishment of new business.
• Potential credits towards further study.
• Increased employment opportunities in business sector.

3 Elective Units

Enrolment:
The Information Session forms the initial stage of the enrolment process, providing an opportunity for prospective students to come along and meet some of the tutors as well as finding out more about the course, prior to enrolment. A student induction kit will be circulated to those who choose to enrol at this stage.

Fees:
Total fees in 2009 for the Certificate IV in Business (Small Business Management) are:
• $TBA.00 (Tuition fee) plus $120.00 (Amenities fee)
Part payment may be organised upon request.

Tutors:
ECEC has a bank of highly qualified industry tutors with a high standard of training education and recent or current industry experience in the Business Services sector.

Delivery:
Training is delivered part time, in evening classes and workshops. However, students must allow for a substantial amount of time outside hours to complete assignments and projects.

The Certificate IV in Business (Small Business Management) is designed to cover the fundamental skills of business development to provide a solid basis for growth in a range of small business enterprises.

Pre-requisites for Entry
A commitment to rigorous initial training for those new to business development, and those wishing to develop their existing Small Business Management skills and knowledge base. Some pre-existing skills will be expected, such as basic bookkeeping knowledge and general office/business procedures.
