Certificate IV in Aged Care Work
Course Code: CHC40102 (This qualification is nationally recognised) Whilst the bulk of the course is face to face training, it is expected that you will also do research and study at home for assignments and essays. A workplace component is compulsory for successful completion of the course. Occupational Outcomes Once successfully completed, this certificate enables you to work in residential or home care, with a level of supervisory responsibility. The units covered by the course relate directly to the maintenance of an individual's personal care and/or other living activities. Certificate IV in Aged Care will be a mandatory qualification for all aged care workers by 2007. Roles may include: • Assistant in Nursing • Support worker • Carer • Personal Care Assistant • Home Care Assistant • Nursing Assistant • Community Support/Care Worker • In Home Respite Worker • Personal Care Giver/Worker
Enrolment: The Information Session forms the initial stage of the enrolment process, providing an opportunity for prospective students to come along and meet some of the tutors as well as finding out more about the course, prior to enrollment. A student induction kit will be circulated to those who choose to enrol at this stage. Fees: Total fees for 2009 for the Certificate IV in Aged Care are to be advised Part payment may be organized upon request. Tutors: ECEC has a bank of highly qualified industry tutors with a high standard of training education and recent or current industry experience in the Aged Care sector. Delivery: Training is delivered in the class environment, on a part time basis. However, students must allow for a substantial amount of time outside class hours to complete assignments, projects and work placement. Who is this course for? The Certificate IV in Aged Care Work is for those with substantial experience of employment in residential facilities, or home care, especially those already working in the Aged Care sector who are seeking certification. • Upgrade your skills and competencies from Level III to Level IV • Upon successful completion, employment may be gained in a supervisory or co-ordination role. • Provides a pathway to further study in the Community Services field. • For those wanting to gain an accredited qualification. This qualification meets the requirements for employment in the aged care sector, which will be mandatory by 2007 . Pre-requisites for entry to this course are: • Completion of the Certificate III in Aged Care, or • Substantial equivalent industry experience. In addition, students must undertake a satisfactory police check, and have current Basic First Aid Certification in order to participate in work placement. |
