This qualification is aimed at those working or intending to work with children in care settings. Child care workers are expected to use organizational policies, procedures and individual children's profiles to plan activities and provide care for children, facilitate their leisure and play and enable them to develop in a positive environment.
Whilst the bulk of the course is face to face training, it is expected that students will also do research and study at home for assignments and essays.
A workplace component is required for successful completion of the course.
Occupational Outcomes
Once completed, this certificate enables you to work in child care centres, under direct or regular supervision, within clearly defined organisational guidelines. The activities that would be carried out relate to the maintenance of a child's care and recreational activities.
This certificate provides a pathway to the Diploma in Children's Services.
Occupational options may include:

Enrolment:
The Information Session forms the initial stage of the enrolment process, providing an opportunity for prospective students to come along and meet some of the tutors as well as finding out more about the course, prior to enrolment. A student information booklet will be circulated to those who choose to enrol at this stage.

Fees:
Total fees in 2009 for the Certificate III in Children's Services, (applicable a week prior to course commencing) are:
• $800.00 (Tuition fee) plus $120.00 (Amenities fee)
OR Concession Rate:
• $55.00 plus $120.00 (Amenities fee)
(Refunds will be paid in full if course cancelled, No refunds after 4 weeks' of course commencement)

Tutors:
ECEC has a bank of highly qualified industry tutors with a high standard of training education and recent or current industry experience in the Children's Services sector.
Delivery:
Training is delivered part time, at times and days that are mutually compatible with prospective participants and tutors. However, students must allow for a substantial amount of time outside class hours to complete assignments, projects and work placement where required.

Who is this course for?
The Certificate III in Children's Services is for those wishing to or already working in the centre or home-based child care sector.
• Child care workers in occasional or long-day care centres who report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers.
• Home-based child care workers who provide care and recreational facilities for children in their homes.
• For those wanting to gain an accredited qualification.
• Provides a pathway to articulate into Diploma qualifications in the Community Services Training Package.
